The “hire me” button
If you’ve been reading this space over the last couple of weeks, you know that I’m in the process of rewiring my systems (so to speak). That process sounds a bit drastic, but isn’t. It’s just a lot of little, but I hope profound or just plain useful, changes to the way in which I do things — both professionally and personally.
One of those changes involved the redesign of my Web site. I’ve started offering some additional services. And I’ve added a hire me button to the site. For someone like me, that’s a bit of a bold step. But I hope it’s a good one.
A “hire me” button?
That’s just it says it is. A potential client clicks the button and it takes tehm to a special-purpose contact form. I ran across the idea while reading a blog post last year and the idea stuck. I just never got around to adding one to my site until recently.
I created the button using a nifty online tool. It doesn’t look half bad, if I do say so myself. Then, I built the contact form using a Web form generator. With the automation that I added to my Web site, I was up and running in under 15 minutes.
So far, no one has hired me by clicking the button. But it’s early days yet. I’ll keep you posted on how this is going
