Tips for generating ideas

As I’ve written before ideas are the lifeblood of any writer — regardless of whether you’re working in the world of fiction or non-fiction. Sometimes, though, it can be tough to come up with a good idea.

This blog post offers 15 tips on how to generate ideas, and to write with ease. I’ve always felt that they both went hand in hand. If you have a good idea and are enthusiastic about it, then writing is a bit easier.

My own method mirrors some of the tips in the article. I carry a Moleskine notebook and pen with me wherever I go, and am constantly jotting down ideas and outlines. Some survive, some don’t. I also get inspiration from what’s already been written. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t steal ideas. I try to find new angles on them. I’m not always successful, but it can work.

How do you come up with ideas for your work? Feel free to leave a comment.
