Words on a page

One of the goals of any kind of writing is to explain something. That's where a how-to comes in. A good how-to, whether an article or a one-page tutorial, explains how to get a task done. And it does that job succinctly and clearly. Unfortunately, some how-to pieces don't do that great a job.
