A look at some minimalist tools for writers
It looks like Linux.com and Newsforge.com are on a bit of a tear today, focusing on Linux tools for writers. And here I was saving up my article ideas on that topic for later in the year ...
Anyway, the latest piece focuses on minimalist tools for writers -- writing and formatting your work with a text editor and a simple markup language called txt2tags. It's an interesting approach, and txt2tags is simple to use. But, like many similar approaches (including ones that I've written about) it has limited uses. Self publishing and Web content are two; documentation is another.
Still, it's interesting to see people coming up with solutions like this using free and Open Source tools.
