Use a wiki? Maybe you should

Having worked as a technical writer in a number of software development shops, I've seen how useful a wiki can be. A wiki is simply a Web site that one or more users can edit and use to collaborate. I've found that a wiki is also a great tool for writers. I use one to jot down notes and outlines, and to keep track of projects -- no matter where I am.

The problem with a wiki, though, is that it can require a lot of know-how to set up and maintain. Not only is there the wiki software to deal with, but usually you have to maintain a Web server and database as well.

Another option is to use a hosted wiki. Someone else runs and maintains the wiki on the Web, and you can use it anywhere and at any time. This article looks at three hosted wikis, any of which you can use to track and work on your writing projects.
