Dealing with long Word docs 

I don’t recommend using Microsoft Word for creating long documents. And it’s not (just) an anti-Microsoft bias that fuels this advice. In past lives, I used Word to write documents ranging from 200 to 700 pages and the whole process was frustrating. And that’s putting it mildly.

A lot of publishers demand that you use Word (and their Word templates), which can also be frustrating. But in his blog, Keith Soltys pointed out a lengthy article at InformIT.com which offers a number of tips and tricks for dealing with long Word documents. This article is a must read if you have to write in Word.
