Audio guides from Apple

A while back, Apple released an audio version of the guide for the VoiceOver accessibility tool for Mac OS X. I’ve listened to some of the chapters, and while they’re literally just spoken versions of the documentation (available as a PDF) I think this is an interesting idea.

I’m not entirely certain that audio guides will work for all types of software, but I have a feeling that this concept can be used for presenting overview information and perhaps even presenting marketing information.

The main challenge appears to be to tailor the information in the audio guides to the ears. Simply reading the content of a print guide won’t cut it.
