The difference between wanting and actually doing

Over the years, I've met a number of people who have told me that they want to write. They talk about how wonderful it would be to have their work published and, perhaps, make some money from their efforts. But few, if any, of them actually do anything to achieve that goal. Beyond scibbling the occasional piece or jotting down notes, they just keep on dreaming. The few that do try to get something out to market are all-too-often discouraged by rejection slips.

That's why I find my buddy Glenn to be refreshing. He's had a few articles published, and he's taking writing and writing-related courses. More importantly, he's trying to apply what he's learning to his writing.

Glenn is combining desire with action. While it may take a while for him to get established, Im sure he'll make it.
