Blogging as a full-time job
Becoming a full-time writer can be precarious enough. But can someone make a go of it as a full-time blogger? Jason Kottke, who runs kottke.org has just quit his day job to devote all of his time to publishing his blog.
While Kottke admits it's the dumbest economic decision he's made, he's willing to make a go of it by decreasing his expenses and relying on donations (but not advertising) to keep him going.
What Kottke's doing takes a lot of guts, and I wish him well. If he can pull this off, he might be opening the door to a new way for writers to earn money.
