Writing with Amaya

A while back, I wrote a document about XML tools for DocBook for my buddy Karl. The obvious choice for writing this document was to use DocBook itself. But, as usual, I decided to be different. So, I wrote it in XHTML instead.

Instead of using a text editor, a dedicated HTML editor, or DreamWeaver (which doesn't run under Linux, anyway), I used an application called Amaya. Amaya is the browser and Web authoring tool that was created by the World Wide Web Consortium. Amaya is a visual tool: you don't have to look at any code unless you want to.

It's been a while since I wrote anything using Amaya. And, I have to say, I've missed it. It's so easy to write documents using it -- even easier than using a word processor. On top of that, what you get in the end is standards-compliant Web pages, which is a major bonus.
