Speed writing for fun and (mostly) profit
Recently, I took on a freelance assignment that involves writing a large number of 170 to 200 word articles for a Web site. The per-article rate isn't that great, but I can make it up in volume. In fact, I can write five or six of these articles in an hour.
When a friend (who also writes) heard about this, he blurted out "How can you do that? I'd be lucky to get one or two done in an hour." It's simple, really. Back in university, I read a book called The Freelance Writer's Handbook by Dennis E. Hensley and Holly G. Miller. In it, the authors presented a set of speed writing formats that take the pain out of writing an article. I've used those formats since then, and they've never failed me.
If you're interested in the formats, then download this PDF file. Enjoy.
