Editing and saving text over FTP

For all of its faults, FTP is still a useful way of moving files around the Internet. One of the problems is, though, that you often have to pull a file down to your computer, edit it there, and then push it back up to a Web site. Or, you can install an editor that supports editing over FTP.

But if you’re an Ubuntu user (and you wouldn’t be reading this blog if you weren’t), there’s another way. You can set up gEdit to save to FTP site. Derek Buranen explains how in this blog post.
