Switching back to GNOME

As I chroncicled here, I recently bought a high-powered notebook pre-loaded with Linux. It runs Ubuntu 8.04, with the GNOME desktop. That may come as a surprise to some who know that I’ve been using Xubuntu for a while now. Guess what? I’m sticking with GNOME.

I’ve used GNOME in the past, and liked it. I only switched to Xubuntu because it ran quickly on one of my ThinkPads. But the performance of GNOME on my new machine is amazing. I bet Xubuntu will run like lightning on it, but to be honest I’m just a bit too lazy to install Xfce.

Does that mean I’ve soured on Xubuntu? Of course not. I might go back to using it one day. But for now, I’m sticking with GNOME.
